Please note: The shark died of natural causes; no sharks were harmed for this event.
Join us for a shark exhibit, a presentation and an in-person shark dissection at Crystal Ballroom and Lola's Room - all courtesy of Oregon State University's Big Fish Lab. Don't miss out on this incredible opportunity to meet Oregon's shark scientists and learn about the important work they do. And we'll be projecting the dissection onto the big screen, so you won't miss any of the details.
Our recommendation: Hit up Ringlers Pub or Hal's Café for dinner before the presentation, then peruse the shark exhibits in Lola's Room before getting your seat for the big show!

We are a research group located in Newport, at OSU's Hatfield Marine Science Center. Though we were originally established to fill a gap in our understanding of sharks in Oregon waters, our work also takes us globally - to Ireland, the Maldives, Mexico, South Africa, and more. Our scientists study a variety of topics, from shark moms to shark diet to learning about how sharks will respond to climate change and even how frequently sharks eat plastic. Our work has been featured on both local news and national and international television, including Discovery Channel, National Geographic, and BBC.
